It's not uncommon for a police department to see its fair share of rats pass through its headquarters. People give up their former associates for a lesser sentence all the time.
But the New Orleans Police Department is dealing with actual rats, many of which are finding their way to evidence storage and eating many pieces of evidence. Notably, all the drugs the police store in there.
New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick said per WWL-TV, "The rats eating our marijuana, they're all high."
At least it's just marijuana. We've seen what cocaine can do to a bear, we fear what it would do to a rat!
