Customs officials seize wheels of cheese stuffed with cocaine at Texas border

Drug smugglers know no limits when it comes to try and sneaking product into the United States.  This time, they were caught though.  By drug-sniffing mice we presume.

Customs officials in Texas seized four large wheels of cheese in the bed of a pickup truck coming in from Mexico, and found they were stuffed with 17.8 pounds of cocaine!

The 22-year-old driver, a US citizen who legally declared the cheese, will face charges for the failed smuggling attempt, according to CNN.

Daniel Mercado, director of Customs and Border Protection at the Presidio Port said, “Smugglers will sometimes try to conceal contraband in items that appear innocent to deflect suspicion.

“The thorough and extensive inspections performed by CBP officers stopped this unusual drug load from reaching its intended destination.”
