Easter celebrations broke out into chaos at a mall in Dayton, Ohio, after adults began "pushing kids out of the way" in order to get to the Easter treats themselves.

The Greene Town Center in Dayton apologized on Monday for the adults' behavior, which had left "some children leaving empty-handed."

According to Dayton 24/7 Now News, 2,000 eggs were hidden and there were over 100 prizes to give away.  The rules explicitly stated parents were not allowed to pick up the eggs, but many mall officials noticed several adults ignoring the rules, and even shoving children out of the way in order to get the prizes themselves.

In a deleted Facebook post, Greene Town Center officials said they had trouble with crowd control," and repeatedly had to ask participants to move, and they saw people being knocked over.

Officials thanked everyone who donated prizes, or their time, to help with the event, and that they would like to apologize for the way the community spoke to their volunteers.

The Greene did not mention the possibility of having a third annual Easter Egg hunt next year.
