Apparently, we all like our morning coffee for all the wrong reasons.
It's not the taste or the smell that gravitates us to our cup of joe every day. No, it's because it's a habit that's been instilled in us from a memory or a moment that reminds you of your upbringing.
According to YourTango, Dr. Sanam Hafeez PsyD., a neuropsychologist, and professor at Columbia University, says our appreciation for coffee could stem from your upbringing if your elders had a cup first thing in the morning.
We're all influenced by what we saw when we were younger, and from the people looked up to, so if your parent or grandparent started every day with a cup of coffee, you have fond memories and an appreciation for the very same thing.
And if someone drinks coffee every day, their brains will often get rewired to believe they need caffeine in the morning.
Dr. Hafeez says, "Coffee provides them with the stimulation that jolts them from fatigue into action and alertness. If they go without they could have trouble concentrating and staying on task."
