The world of dating is constantly changing. You used to meet potential mates out and about in the world. Chatting them up at a bar or bumping into each other at the grocery store.
The rise of the internet came the rise of dating apps, and meeting someone new by sliding into the DMs.
Younger folks these days are taking things a step further and say that the most popular choice for a first date with someone new is entirely online!
A survey of singles between the ages of 18 and 27 found that the "ideal first date" is a Zoom call, with 65% of people preferring a virtual date rather than meeting up with someone in-person.
According to Business Insider, there are three main reasons why virtual first dates are so popular: it's more efficient; it's safer; and a lot of young people feel "intimidated" with face-to-face interaction these days.
