Is it life that imitates art, or art that imitates life?

We're not really sure, but the question doesn't really matter because we have a real-life Snakes on a Plane situation.

Pilot Rudolf Erasmus was flying four work colleagues over South Africa on Monday when he felt something cold rubbing against his skin under his shirt.

He thought it was maybe a leaky water bottle, but when he looked down, he found it wasn't a water bottle at all, but he did see a snake's head disappearing beneath his seat!

And by the way, Erasmus recognized the kind of snake it was: a Cape cobra, which has enough venom to kill 9 people with a single strike!

You can imagine the panic that set in.

Somehow, Erasmus was able to remain calm, and he was able to conduct an emergency landing of the plane so everyone could be ushered off safely.

According to Insider, after the plane landed, officials tried to search for the snake, but it was nowhere to be found.

Where's Samuel L. Jackson when you need him?
