A couple in Plano was featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday because of their spectacular Halloween display. Brendan Cook, an interior decorator, told Joshua Baethge from Plano Magazine the story of how it happened.
Cook and his partner, Tim Wright, had taken a trip to Disneyworld in 2019. Using the Haunted Mansion as his concept, Cook adorned their home with an inflatable Mickey Mouse jack-'o-lantern, a skeleton horse-drawn carriage, tombstones, and colorful lights. Neighbors loved it and would frequently walk by the house to get into the Halloween spirit.

There was just one problem. Wright wasn't a fan. He prefers more of a traditional fall theme. Enter DFW native Kelly Clarkson. She enlisted the help of Dallas designer Jennifer Houghton, and the makeover began.
The family consulted with Houghton, and then were asked to leave the house. Once they left the premises, the Turtle Creek Lane crew got to work. They spruced up the entryway with a giant pumpkin and added a black and white checkered walkway to the front door. Once the hay bales and skeletons were in place, the family was blindfolded for the big reveal.
The kids approved, and the couple were in Clarkson's audience today to discuss the exciting metamorphosis.
