The world of Zoom and virtual meetings over the past five years has really done a number on what people consider “appropriate” acts in public.
For all intents and purposes, a Zoom meeting should be treated with the same level of attention and care as something being handled in-person. Unfortunately, a lot of folks have done away with that level of decorum.
A police officer in Detroit recently showed up to a Zoom court hearing, where he was immediately called out by the judge because he was not wearing pants!
In the aftermath of the uniform video, Detroit Police Chief Todd A. Bettison issued the following statement per CBS News:
"The Detroit Police Department requires its officers to represent themselves in a dignified and professional manner while attending court proceedings. The involved officer's actions are not representative of the professionalism of this department and will be appropriately addressed to maintain the public confidence and efficient operation of this department.
"Our apologies are hereby extended to the judges and staff of the court, as well as anyone else who may have been in attendance during this incident."
