44-year-old Matthew Piercey of Palo Cedro, California was recently sought after by police for his involvement a Ponzi Scheme.

Apparently, Piercey has been running the $35 million Ponzi Scheme since 2015, mostly through convincing people at his megachurch to "invest" their cash with him, which eventually most if not all went into his pocket.

This past Monday, the FBI went to Piercey's house to arrest him when he attempted a daring escape. He hopped in his pickup truck, drove to a nearby lake, and jumped in. He attempted to elude the police by diving underwater and traversing the bottom of the lake with a Yamaha 350LI Underwater Submersible.

Essentially, that's a "seascooter" that drags you underwter for four-miles-an-hour.

Piercey stayed in the water for nearly 30 minutes, but his plan was foiled for a couple of reasons: He jumped into a lake, so there was really no way out, he didn't bring BREATHING EQUIPMENT so he had to keep coming up for air, and the lake was FREEZING!

Piercey was arrested for wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, and witness tampering, and is facing up to 20 years in prison.
