If you're ever sore or have muscle pain, that's probably the best time to hit the gym.
Researchers from The University of Iowa report that resistance or strength training activates androgen receptors that protect against chronic musculoskeletal pain! And the team also suggests regular strength exercises could help prevent future muscle aches and problems!
The research team studied mice over a period of eight weeks, and trained them to climb up a ladder with small weights attached to them. Regular ladder-climbing helped in increasing the strength of the front paws.
They injected the mice with a mild acid solution that created some muscle pain when working out, and found that after eight weeks of resistance training, the development of muscle pain completely stopped in these mice.
Per Study Finds, he findings suggest androgen receptors are needed to protect against muscle pain, and this could potentially lead to more recommendations for strength or resistance workouts in people with chronic pain.
