Normally if you drink booze at breakfast some people might say you have a problem. But if you drink booze at brunch people will say that's a wonderful way to start your day. Brunch is incredible like that.
However, there are some folks who just can't handle their alcohol and combine that with bottomless mimosas you have a recipe for disaster.
And you also have a recipe for vomit, which is the impetus behind this new fee instituted at some restaurants in the Bay Area. If you throw up after downing too many mimosas at one of these restaurants' brunches, they're going to charge you for it!
Kitchen Story, a popular restaurant in Oakland that serves Asian-inspired breakfast and brunch in Oakland, California, posted a sign above its bathrooms that reads:
Dear all mimosa lovers,
Please drink responsibly and know your limits. A $50 cleaning fees will automatically include in your tap when you throw up in our public areas.
Thank you so much for understanding 🙂
Kitchen Story owner Steven Choi told SFGate, "This was still during the pandemic and it became a very sensitive issue for customers and staff having to clean up. But this is not unique. It's there to make the customers stop and think about other people."
Kitchen Story co-owner Chaiporn Kitsadaviseksak revealed he can't recall having to actually charge the fee since the signs were posted, but before introducing the fee, folks tossing their cookies in the restaurant happened "a lot."
