Comedian and actor Richard Lewis revealed in a social media post over the weekend that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Lewis, best known for his work on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, actually revealed that he was diagnosed with the disease two years ago, but kept it under wraps before disclosing it Saturday.
In the video, Lewis explained that he learned of his diagnosis after getting a brain scan after noticing some "shifty movements in his feet."
Lewis added that he considers himself lucky, because he got the diagnosis "late in life and they say you progress very slowly if at all and I'm on the right meds so I'm cool."
Per Variety, Lewis said that he has decided to retire from performing stand up comedy, and will instead focus on writing and acting.
The 12th season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which Lewis explained he had just wrapped filming a couple of weeks ago, will reportedly be the show's final season, and debut sometime later this year.
