Last month, Paul McCartney described the Rolling Stones as nothing but a "blues cover band."
Well the Who's Roger Daltrey has echoed McCartney's sentiments, calling the Stones in an interview with the Coda Collection, via Rolling Stone, "a mediocre pub band."
Daltrey, however, did say you couldn't "take anything away" from the band, nor frontman Mick Jagger.
He said, "You can not take away the fact that Mick Jagger is still the number one rock 'n' roll showman up front. But as a band, if you were outside a pub and you heard that music coming out of a pub some night, you'd think, 'Well, that's a mediocre pub band!' No disrespect."
Daltrey did credit the Stones with writing "some great songs, but they are in that blues format."
