Earlier this month, Yanet Lopez, the cafeteria manager at Deer Creek Prairie Vale Elementary School in Edmond, Oklahoma officially became a U.S. citizen.
Upon passing her test, students, teachers, and staff members celebrated with Lopez, and lined the walls of the campus while chanting "U.S.A, U.S.A" as Lopez walked by.
Originally from Cuba, Lopez moved from Houston to Oklahoma a few years ago for better job opportunities.
She encourages everyone to follow their dreams, as she did. She told KOCO, "When I was a child, I have a dream like, say, Martin Luther King, right? My dream was (to) come here to this great country."
Not only is Lopez celebrating becoming a U.S. citizen, her whole family, including her husband and three children, ages 17 to 28, all passed as well.
