It's a method as old as time: cut yourself and put a bandage over it. Moms have had a medicine cabinet stock full of bandages of various shapes and sizes throughout history.
Parents, you'll need to make some room for a new kind of bandage though, one that researchers at NC State University say can heal wounds faster than ones you may already have!
According to their study, these bandages utilize an "electrical stimulation" that will result in your wounds being healed 30% faster than your standard bandage.
There is no actual electricity involved, they are disposable bandages with electrodes on one side, and a small, biocompatible "battery" on the other which is activated by water.
There's no word yet though on when these bandages might become available in stores.
Researchers say they're "moving forward with additional testing that will get [them] closer to clinical trials . . . and practical use that can help people."
