Over the summer, Laura Palladino had visited a pair of pregnant pigs at June Farms in West Sand Lake in New York. A couple of weeks ago, Palladino pulled up the farm's live "swine cam" to see if the pigs had delivered their babies.

When Palladino tuned in however, she saw smoke, soon followed by a fire in the pigs' barn. Palladino told WKBN, "I logged on and at first, I thought it was just, like, a wood-burning stove in the background."

In actuality, one of the pigs, Ethel, accidentally knocked over a heat lamp, and started a fire. Palladino lives 60 miles away from the farm in a different county. So it was a process to connect to the correct emergency dispatcher.

Eventually, Palladino was able to make contact with the farm's owner, Matt Baumgartner, and farmhand Joshua Vics was able to make it to the farm in time to put out the flames and save the pigs.

Unbelievably, the webcam was set up just a DAY before the fire! Palladino said, "I never thought that when we saw these pigs that I would technically end up saving their life."
