If you grew up in Texas, you know the hum of cicadas at night are just a part of life. In fact for some, it's almost too quiet at night when the cicadas are silent.
It doesn't appear that residents of South Carolina are too used to cicadas, because the Newberry County Sheriff's Office in Newberry, South Carolina had to issue an alert to stop calling 911 due to the loud noise cicadas make!
Sheriff Lee Foster told WLTX, "Some people think it might be some kind of industrial machine running. Some people think it's a siren, well, we just we just sell them as nature. It doesn't fall on the noise ordinance."
