It's a really good time to be a beaver.  When you woke up this morning did you think you would read a statement like that?

Either way, a group of scientists from California believe the key to saving their states, and others, that experience major droughts is by studying beavers…from SPACE!

According to Wired, the group of scientists believe that beavers can act as "ecological saviors" due to their ponds and wetlands which "store water in the face of drought, filter out pollutants, furnish habitat for endangered species, and fight wildfires."

By studying beaver dams and other "beaver infrastructure" from space, scientists can hope to help develop infrastructure and resources to help states stricken with drought bounce back from devastation.

The Nature Conservancy and Google hope roll out these beaver cams, called the Earth Engine Automated Geospatial Elements Recognition, or EEAGER (yes, as in "eager beaver) across California sometime in 2024.

Hopefully, the beaver cams make their way to Texas soon after!  We have drought, too!
