Ok, first let's put aside the fact that a banana duct taped to a wall is considered a piece of art worth $120,000. Ridiculous yes, but some people consider it a work of valuable art, which is why the piece titled "Comedian" was on display at the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea.
Well it was, until a student visiting the museum decided to pluck the banana off the wall and eat it.
After eating the banana, the student taped the peel back to the wall, until museum staff replaced it with a fresh banana.
As to why the student decided to eat the banana, a museum representative told CNN that he said it was simply because "he was hungry."
The representative added, "It happened suddenly, so no special action was taken. The artist, Maurizio Cattelan, was informed of the incident but he didn't have any reaction to it."
"Comedian" went viral in 2019 after it sold for $120,000 at Art Basel Miami Beach. Two other editions of the piece also sold at the fair.
