Scientists are calling it "diet face."
Apparently, this phenomenon occurs when one loses weight, and the fat loss in their face causes deflated cheeks, makes their eyes look hollow and sunken, and makes their jowls sag and look heavy.
While losing weight is great, scientists have confirmed that this "diet face" actually makes you look older.
The study, published in the medical journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, showed that fat actually acts as the "scaffolding" that holds the face up.
To avoid looking older if you lose weight, scientists suggest doing it gradually to give your face and skin a chance to catch up to fat loss.
