Mom, Dad, you may want to hold off getting your kid that new laptop they've been wanting for school.

According to Study Finds, a new survey has found that students who take their notes by hand actually have higher GPAs than those who don't!

The survey of 2,000 parents was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Five Star, and found that although typing notes (34%) proved to be more popular than handwriting them (30%), those that wrote their notes had a higher median GPA (3.2) than the overall average (2.9).

Jessica Hodges, vice-president of marketing for Five Star, said in a statement, "Over the past few years, digital learning has become more of a necessity, with computers and tablets now an essential tool for education.  Even so, studies consistently show that handwriting notes helps students improve their focus and memory recall."

According to the study, kids who handwrite their notes seemed more successful in remembering information they've read (98% vs. 67%), and also finishing assignments on time (74% vs. 55%).

Hodges added, "Studies show that things like flashcards, interactive games, study groups, or guided sessions help kids excel in and out of the classroom.  Finding a virtual study tool can be a great way to make learning fun and engaging for students today."
