Anyone who doesn't have the luxury of working from home knows just how much of a beast the traffic in DFW can be. The sound of cars constantly honking their horns at each other during rush hour could be enough to kill you.
And apparently, that sentiment should be taken literally!
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study where they found that the normal sounds of traffic can lead to heart disease, strokes, and other issues long term which include death!
The study, which was published on EurekAlert, explained that the stress added by the sounds of traffic can mean "unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing illness and aging." And it's not just sitting in rush hour traffic that can add to this adverse effect.
If you live in an area with heavy traffic that impacts your ability to sleep at night, the lack of sleep can also cause inflammation which causes high blood pressure.
Good luck to everyone on their commute home this evening! Hopefully there isn't too much noise!
