As we kick off another work week, a new study has found that we all experience one of five different types of workdays. Obviously, some sound more ideal than others.
These five workdays, according to Financial Post, include: Typical, Ideal, Crisis, Disengaged, and Toxic.
The study broke down each of the days as follows:
Typical. Mostly smooth sailing without many bumps. You're not crushing it, but you're also not slacking. 34% of days fit into that category.
Ideal. 29% of workdays. You're more productive than a typical day, but not overwhelmed. You might still have deadlines, but they're achievable.
Crisis. 19% of workdays. Lots of fires to put out. You might feel rushed or get interrupted a lot. So you can't really focus or excel.
Disengaged. 10% of workdays. Those are the days when you're just not feeling it. Maybe you waste an hour on Instagram. Sometimes it's just an off-day. But it can also come from not having any urgent deadlines to keep you motivated.
Toxic. 8% of workdays. That's when it's a REALLY bad day. Your boss is being a jerk . . . you argued with a coworker . . . or something else is just annoying you so much, you can't be productive.
Now the study also found, interestingly enough, that the type of workday you have has more to do with things out of your control, such as "your boss, your clients, or what's being thrown at you that day."
The study also found we tend to have multiples of the same day back-to-back.
We know we're all shooting for Ideal, but we figure we'd all settle for Typical.
