Boy, what horrible news to read this close to Halloween.

A new study published in the Journal of Translational Medicine found that eating sweet treats and indulging your sweet tooth can actually lead to depression!

Professor Nophar Geifman, who led the study, said in a media release, "The foods that you like or dislike seem to directly link to your health. If your favorite foods are cakes, sweets, and sugary drinks, then our study's results suggest that this may have negative effects on your health."

According to StudyFinds, people who identified as having a sweet tooth were not only 31% more likely to suffer from depression, but also had higher rates of diabetes and heart problems.

We've found quite the opposite does happen when we encounter sweets, though.  How disappointed are you when you pick up a cookie, only to find what you thought were chocolate chips are actually raisins?
