TCU will no longer call first-year students "Freshmen"

Will other schools follow suit?

Texas Christian University announced they will no longer classify students as "freshmen" because they want to be more gender-inclusive. Instead, they will call them "first-year students". This is starting to get cumbersome. Will there still be sorority "sisters" and fraternity "brothers"? Those are also sex-specific terms. Why do we still differentiate between TCU men's basketball and TCU women's basketball? Under the same guidelines, shouldn't it just be one umbrella term of "Horned Frog Basketball"? I understand wanting to be fair, but sometimes we go overboard.
