The pitch clock has been a wonderful innovation for Major League Baseball this year. Games are moving a lot faster and sometimes clocking in at under three hours; before this year you'd be lucky to hit the sixth inning by hour three.
However, as fans are spending less time at the ballpark for games, vendors are noticing another statistic trickling downward: alcohol sales.
Less game time means less drinking time, so to combat this, several teams are extending the time in which fans can purchase alcohol during the game, and that includes your Texas Rangers.
Normally, alcohol sales cease after the seventh inning, but per NBC DFW, the Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Minnesota Twins, and Milwaukee Brewers have extended sales through the eighth inning.
Baseball fan Tom Lienhardt, who was sipping on a beer Tuesday night before the Brewers-Diamondbacks game at Chase Field, said, "Totally makes sense to me. Since the games are shorter, you've got to adjust."
