The Texas Pool in Plano has been a cultural institution in the city for over 60 years.

Originally constructed in 1961, the Texas-shaped pool was envisioned as a “significant role” in Plano’s “initial master-planned development,” and will now stand for generations to come.

The Texas Pool has just been designated as a historic landmark, Plano’s 34th such designation!

Believe it or not, the Texas Pool holds national recognition on the National Registry of Historic Places, despite receiving the honor locally just recently.

The Texas Pool Foundation said in a statement per Local Profile, “We are so grateful for the support of the Texas Historical Commission, the city of Plano and the city of Plano Heritage Commission, and the Plano Conservancy as well as local business, corporations and our community for supporting The Texas Pool Foundation’s preservation efforts.”
