Students at Texas State University in San Marcos will soon be able to hit the books and learn all about the cult of pop star Harry Styles.

The school is set to offer a course next semester called "Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity."

Associate Professor of Digital History Louie Dean Valencia told KXAN he is a "huge fan" of Harry Styles, and wants the chance to show students "how the world has changed in the last 12 years or so, but also how to put that into historical context, through the lens of Harry Styles, and how they can learn from him and his art, activism and philosophy, like any great artist."

Valenica says the course will be similar to a history class.

Assignments for the class will include studying Styles' music, films and with readings from Murakami, Bethan Roberts, Susan Sontag, Charles Bukowski, Rumi, Alain de Botton, Richard Brautigan and more. Students will also be required to create their own podcast.

The course is slated for spring 2023, and students can register starting this fall.
