Texas ranks as the eighth worst state for women in the country

March is Women's History Month. and as such, WalletHub released a study of the best and worst states in the country for women.

And unfortunately, Texas did not do very well.


To determine their findings, WalletHub look at 25 key indicators of "living standards for women," including median earnings for female workers, women's preventative health care, and the female homicidal rate.

And unfortunately, Texas overall is one of the worst states for women to live in. In fact, of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia, we're the eighth worst state in the nation!

The ten worst states include:

51 - Oklahoma
50 - Alabama
49 - Arkansas
48 - South Carolina
47 - Lousiana
46 - Mississippi
45 - Idaho
44 - Texas
43 - Georgia
42 - Alaska
41 - Missouri

The ten greatest states to live in if you're a woman include:

1 - Massachusetts
2 - Minnesota
3 - New York
4 - Hawaii
5 - District of Columbia
6 - Vermont
7 - Maryland
8 - Iowa
9 - Washington
10 - Rhode Island

The study also found that Texas ranks 43rd in the nation for Women's Economic and Social Well-Being, and 38th for Women's Health Care and Safety.
