The market for used cars is still pretty hot right now, so a woman in Humble, TX thought she would get in the action and sell a 2022 Toyota Camry.
The only problem was, it wasn't hers to rightfully sell, because the woman had just rented it.
According to NBC DFW, the buyer flagged down an officer when he grew suspicious about purchasing the vehicle, which was listed online for half its value.
The buyer believed the woman's drivers license looked odd, and his suspicions were confirmed when the Humble Police Department ran her information, and found that nothing between the license and the car's title matched up.
Officers used the VIN from the fake title, who were able to make contact with the actual owner of the vehicle who informed them that it was in fact a rental and was not for sale.
A buy/bust was then arranged.
Once the suspect and the citizen agreed upon a price of $10k, she was taken into custody for 3rd-degree felony auto theft and 2nd-degree felony tampering.
