No doubt we've all heard how those late-night cravings can have an adverse effect on our weight, and how eating right before bed is probably the worst thing you can do if you're trying to lose weight.
Well a new study has found that the time of day you eat actually has no bearing at all on weight loss!
Researchers from the University of Aberdeen found that the time you eat actually has no impact on weight loss, and metabolism burns just as many calories in the evening as it does in the morning!
For the study, the diets of 16 men and 14 were carefully monitored over a four week period.
One group of men and women ate the bulk of their calories in the morning, and the other in the evening.
The study found that the time of day people ate did not effect their weight differently, and all participants lost the same amount of weight during each of the four weeks.
This suggests they burned the same amount of energy in the morning as they did in the evening.
Professor Alexandra Johnstone, lead author of the study, said that participants "felt satisfied throughout the rest of the day" when they had a bigger breakfast, and that their appetites were "better controlled," telling The Sun that, "This could be quite useful in the real-world environment."
Johnstone did relent though that everybody reacts to diets different, and there isn't any one diet out there that works for everyone. "It's something that's very difficult to measure," she says.
