Two men in Colorado convicted of stealing more than $2,000 worth from merchandise from a Kohl's are asking for lighter sentences because the items the stole were on sale, and they had coupons.

Well, that makes perfect sense to us.  Case closed.

50-year-old Michael Green and 37-year-old Byron Bolden argued in trial that some of the items they stole, which included high-end KitchenAid appliances and brand name shoes and clothing, were discounted.  And combine that with some of the coupons they were carrying, the total amount stolen should have been less than $2,000, which would carry misdemeanor charges, not felony.

The merchandise the men, who have been dubbed the "KitchenAid Mixer Crew," stole amounted in total to $2,094.98.

Prosecutors argued that the discounts only apply to paying customers, and fortunately for the men, the courts agreed.

According to Denver7, Green was sentenced to 15 months in prison and Bolden was sentenced to 90 days in jail with credit for time served as a condition of 18 months of probation.
