So with the ongoing pandemic, obviously Mardi Gras is going to look different this year.
There won't be a parade this year, and as such as no parade floats. That isn't stopping New Orleans from painting the town purple, green, and yellow, however.
Thousands of homes have been decorated as "house floats," with many residents deciding to throw beads off their balconies and attics at neighbors and strangers walking by.
This movement started back in November with a tweet from Megan Joy Boudreaux, who called for people to decorate their homes after it was announced that traditional Mardi Gras parades were canceled for 2021.
It's decided. We're doing this.

Turn your house into a float and throw all the beads from your attic at your neighbors walking by. #mardigras2021 https://t.co/SRFOlOLGmW
Houses are to be decorated by February 2, which is two weeks before Fat Tuesday, February 16.
