Before you swipe right on someone on Tinder, chances are you've checked out their profile to make sure they're a good upstanding citizen of society. But how can you be really sure?
Well, Tinder recently announced that before you swipe left or right on a potential mate, you will be allowed to perform a background check on your potential suitor right there in the app!
Tinder, and other apps owned by Match Group, will soon roll out the feature, which comes after an investment by the company into Garbo, a nonprofit that seeks to permit everyday citizens to vet people based on basic info such as their first name and phone number, according to the NY Post.
Soon, Tinder users will be able to see if a potential match has a criminal record, or other "court designations" such as a restraining order. The app is expected to undergo a trial run with the new feature in upcoming months.
