We are truly living in an age where our most beloved movies and television shows always get a remake or a sequel. In fact, some night even call them unnecessary remakes and sequels.
However, it appears one beloved film will NOT be getting a second part, and it took less than an hour to decide it.
While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Tom Hanks revealed that a conversation took place to develop a sequel to the 1994 classic Forrest Gump, but that conversation ended in less than an hour.
Hanks said per IndieWire, "I will say that, with a long time in between, we did take a stab at talking about another 'Forrest Gump' that lasted all of 40 minutes, and then we never, we said, 'Guys, come on.'"
Hanks did also reveal that one of the smartest things he does is never sign a contract stating he must do a sequel to a picture.
Hanks said, "A smart thing I did is I've never signed a contract that had a contractual obligation to a sequel.
"I've always said, 'Guys, if there's a reason to do it, let's do it. But you guys can't force me.' There is that natural inclination that is one of pure commerce that says, 'Hey, you just had a hit, so do it again, and you'll have a hit.'"
