Texas father-daughter pilot duo fly her first Southwest trip together

Mackenzie Odom has always dreamed of following in her dad's footsteps.

Ever since Mackenzie Odom from Happy, Texas was little, she has wanted to become a pilot. Her father, Captain Kyle Odom, flies for Southwest Airlines so she grew up around aviation.

First Officer Odom attended Oklahoma State University where she was working toward becoming a flight instructor. In 2017, she was awarded a scholarship to continue her studies and earn the hours needed to become a commercial pilot.

Last month, Odom achieved her goal. Being a longtime member of the Southwest family, she was able to make her dream come true. For her first official flight, her father Captain Kyle Odom was in charge of the aircraft with Mackenzie sitting next to him in the flight deck as his First Officer. Talk about a monumental moment!
