North Texas just hit its 50th day over 100° this summer, though the heat isn't something Texas is just experiencing. It's hot all over the globe.
In fact, the United Nations just confirmed that summer 2023 will go down as the "hottest" on record.
Per the Associated Press, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a statement, "The dog days of summer are not just barking, they are biting. Climate breakdown has begun."
According to the World Meteorological Organization and the European climate service Copernicus, the world's oceans were the hottest ever recorded, and have set high temperature marks for three consecutive months!
So far though, 2023 trails 2016 for being the hottest year on record, according to Copernicus.
