Students at Northwestern University in Chicago learned a very important lesson last week: sometimes the cheapest option is not the best option.
The campus is experiencing an outbreak of the Norovirus, otherwise known as the stomach flu, which many link to an event at a restaurant near campus that was offering burritos for just $1.
Big Wig Tacos & Burritos held the $1 burrito deal a few days before the Thanksgiving break, after which the university's hospital saw a massive influx of students coming in with similar symptoms like stomach pain and diarrhea.
According to ABC7, the Evanston Health and Human Services Department launched an investigation into the event and Big Wig Tacos. The restaurant said they weren't sure if it originated at their restaurant or not, and that they'd just passed a health inspection, but are taking "immediate and comprehensive measures to address the situation."
