Shawn Warner is an author from Arlington who appeared to be struggling trying to promote his book, Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor, during an appearance at a Kroger.
However, a viral video of Warner showing his plight and explaining the plot of this book has led to it being the No. 1 book on Amazon!
Jerrad Swearenjin captioned the TikTok, "This new author seemed super defeated when I first walked past him. So before I left the store, I decided to go back. I don't know this guy and this isn't a sponsorship. I just wanted to show a stranger some kindness."
The video garnered over 17 million views after just three days, and it wasn't long after that it became the best-selling book on Amazon.
Warner told WFAA in an interview, "I can barely open the app without it freezing an crashing because it's getting so much love. Just to be some guy sitting alone selling books... the generosity that poured out of that was just amazing, I get choked up. They gave me a chance. And that's just beautiful."
In his own TikTok, Warner thanked everyone who purchased his book, and says he is looking for another book signing opportunity, this time at a Kroger in Dallas.
