A man named Kevin Cate was sitting in a Waffle House in Midway, Florida when he noticed a fellow diner thumbing through a bundle of cash when he waved hello.
Eventually, he struck up a conversation with the gentleman that naturally began with asking why he was sitting in the middle of a Waffle House by a table full of money.
Turns out, the man has been handing one and five dollar bills to strangers since 2014.
Cate explained in a series of tweets that've gone viral: "He told me that since 2014, he's been handing out $1s and $5s to strangers, here and elsewhere.
Since 2014, this man has apparently given away over $13,000, all to complete strangers! And each bill is accompanied by a special note that simply states: "Love every body."
Cate told Today the man first received that bit of advice from his mother, who was dying of cancer.
He recalled the man telling him, "I'm gonna tell you something, and you're gonna take something away from it, she didn't say I love you. She said to love everybody."
