48-year-old Ina Thea Kenoyer of North Dakota was just sentenced to 25 years in prison after she was convicted of poisoning her boyfriend after 51-year-old Steven Riley Jr. received an email that said he was due to inherit $30 million.

Kenoyer was worried that Riley was going to break up with her and take the money for himself, and she was not about to let that happen.

Unfortunately for the both of them, there was no inheritance; there was no $30 million.  It was a scam e-mail, and Riley lost his life because of it.

According to the NY Post, Riley received an email in 2023 from an "estate lawyer" with the news that we was set to inherit the large sum of money.  A meeting was planned for last September, but he fell and paramedics found him unresponsive in his home just days after the meeting was set to occur.

Medical examiners found he was poisoned with ethylene glycol poisoning, the same toxin found in antifreeze. An investigation determined that Kenoyer slipped the poison into his tea.

Kenoyer was sentenced to 25 years after she pleaded guilty in May, with an additional 10 years of supervised probation and $3,455 in restitution paid to Riley's family.
