It was meant to be a wonderful reunion, a woman being reunited with the wedding ring she seemingly lost in the ocean years ago.
Alas, the woman did not want the ring back. Even further, she told the man who found it to throw it back in the water.
Steve Andrews, the operator of Jersey Lost Rings Metal Detecting, found the ring on St. Aubin's Beach in Jersey last month. It was engraved with the year "1989."
He wrote in a post on his Facebook group page, "Wedding band a long way out in St. Aubin's Bay," he wrote. "It's hallmarked for 1989, so many have been there for up to 33 years. Long shot, I know."
The post was shared over 100 times, and just days later he was contacted by the woman who owned the ring, and she wanted nothing to do with it.
Apparently, she tossed the ring "after a bad divorce," and wanted nothing more to do with it.
Andrews confirmed per The Post that he would be putting the ring back where he found it.
"I'll pop it back when I'm next down there," he said.
