Back in the day, it seems that the man was always one to handle the remote control, and therefore what shows the family watched. Well, it appears that that is just no longer the case.

A new study conducted by SWNS Digital found that these days, women are more likely to be in charge of the remote control, and therefore more likely to decided what will be watched on TV each night.

In fact, 67% of women say they are in fact the biggest handlers of the remote.

Some other TV-watching habits the poll found include:

1. The average person spends 24 minutes a week deciding which shows to watch, and another 25 minutes on movies.

2.  A third of people say it's hard to decide what to watch because there are just too many options now.

3. 36% have watched something they didn't REALLY want to watch, but so many people were talking about it, they didn't want to miss out.

4. The top things we look at before we watch something are the genre, the actors, and how the length of a movie or TV show is.

5. Just under half of us have taken so long to decide, we ended up turning the TV off without having watched anything.
