When 33-year-old Kelyn Spadoni of New Orleans checked her investment account, she saw a recent deposit of $1.2 million into her account.
Now, Spadoni knew the million dollars wasn't hers, as she was expecting a deposit of only $82. And as a dispatcher for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department, you would think she would know to report the misplaced money immediately.
But no, she did not do that, and instead purchased a new home and a new car IMMEDIATELY.
Eventually, Charles Schwab noticed the mistake, and got the police involved when Spadoni refused to help remedy the situation.
She was ultimately arrested last week for theft, bank fraud, and illegal transmission of monetary funds, according to CBS 12.
And obviously, she was fired from her job at the sheriff's office. A spokesperson said, "She had no legal claim to that money. Even if it was put in there by mistake, it was an accounting error."
