One of the first experiences having a job for a lot of kids is opening and running their own neighborhood lemonade stands. These days, that's not a job exclusively for kids, though.
A lot of young adults across the country have opened their own lemonade stands as a side-hustle with the hopes of paying off all their debts.
26-year-old, and Washington D.C. resident, Malia Blake told the Washington Post, "The cost of living is kind of high and I have a lot of expenses. "I'm constantly looking for ways outside of my 9-to-5 [job] to put towards my debt and my future. Lemons are cheap. I thought I could do this, too."
Blake makes about $1,000 to $1,500 per each event where she has her stand set up, selling her drinks for $8 a cup. She offers customers a variety of flavors of lemonade, including watermelon, mango, strawberry, hibiscus, and regular ol' plain.
Like a lot of young entrepreneurs, Blake found inspiration through TikTok.
She said, "The support I've gotten in such a short amount of time has been crazy. I post where I'm going to be at and my TikTok supporters come find me to get lemonade."
