Dee Snider considers suing Mark Zuckerberg sister over 'We’re Not Gonna Take It' parody

'It looks like it may not fall (as initially thought) into the ‘fair use’ category and we can get it stopped and taken down'

It looks like Dee Snider will forever be a part of the zeitgeist since it seems his 1984 Twisted Sister hit "We're Not Gonna Take It" is going to be used by folks near and far to promote whatever product or purpose suits their needs -- even if Snider kicks and screams (almost) every time it happens.

We thought Snider was on the upswing after fully endorsing the use of the track amid fierce Ukrainian resistance to Russian military aggression, but alas the ax has fallen once again. Dee's not a fan of Facebook/Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Randi's "dog s***" music video featuring a reworking of his anti-establishment lyrics to fit into some sort of cryptocurrency story that she's trying to sell.

The spin, called “We’re All Gonna Make It,” is a reference to the Web3 acronym "WAGMI," which pushes the digital promise of making anyone who uses cryptocurrency successful. Randi is a former member of The Harvard Opportunes a cappella group, and appeared in the Broadway production of Rock of Ages in 2014, first covering “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as Hollywood City Planner Regina, so it seems she feels like she may have some sort of claim over the ditty, but Snider would beg to differ. He says permission was not given in this instance, and told fans that Twisted Sister’s legal team is looking into it.

Twisted Sister's lawyers are apparently working on this now, with Snider saying, "It looks like it may not fall (as initially thought) into the ‘fair use’ category and we can get it stopped and taken down."

But a bigger question here, at least for Dee, is why the video that Randi posted along with the parody has over 2.5 million views, when his latest video for his single "Stand" only had 75,000. “That @randizuckerberg dog s*** has 2.5 million and my new video ‘Stand’ has 75K. WTF?!," he pondered when answering a fan response.

Alright, now let's all watch "Stand" ... do it for Dee.

After receiving questions about his stance on allowing some groups to use Twisted Sister's music while speaking against others, Snider explained his approval of Ukrainians using his song as a rallying cry at the end of February saying, “People are asking me why I endorsed the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers,” he wrote. “Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is a infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.”

“I absolutely approve of Ukrainians using ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as their battlecry,” Snider tweeted as violence unfolded throughout the country. “My grandfather was Ukrainian, before it was swallowed up by the USSR after WW2," he added. "This can’t happen to these people again!" Snyder then added the hashtag #F***RUSSIA for good measure.
