Dear Johnny,I’m writing today to ask for help because I’m in a toughsituation. I’m a single mom of two boys, a 7 year old and a 4year old. I work as many hours as I can to make ends meetand provide for all of us. It’s been one thing after another thisyear. I had car issues this summer and had to spend $2800to get it fixed, and with COVID I’ve had my hours cut back.Last Friday morning we woke up to a very cold house. Myfurnace had gone completely out. I knew it was a matter oftime, but had been praying it would get us through thewinter. I’ve had two repairmen come look at it and it can’t befixed. The biggest issue is that it is leaking carbon monoxideand it’s being released into the house, so it is unsafe to haveon. I got an estimate and the totals are anywhere from$2600 to $3000. I just don’t have it. It’s right here at theholidays when I’m struggling to give my boys a Christmas. It’s been 6 days so far without heat and I know we’ve beenlucky with the weather, but I know that won’t last. I got acouple of space heaters to help, but I know those can bedangerous and I don’t know what they will do to my electricbill. I just don’t know where to turn for help.Thank you for reading my letter and happy holidays.- Stacy
