Following a number of social media and worldwide billboard teases, Korn has announced their new album, Requiem, and have given fans a taste of what’s to come with the record’s first single "Start The Healing."
Requiem, the California-based band’s 14th studio album featuring nine new tracks, is scheduled to hit shelves and streaming services on February 4, 2022, via Loma Vista Recordings.
The new Korn single also comes with a music video, directed by Tim Saccenti who has worked with Run The Jewels and Depeche Mode in the past, just to name a few. Dipping between real and fantasy, the clip features the band performing amid swirling animations of otherworldly monsters and apparitions.
Saccenti says of the visual, "Our idea for this video was to mutate that aspect of the DNA of KORN, of what makes them so inspiring, their mix of raw power and transportive aesthetics and human emotion. I wanted to take the viewer on an emotional journey, as the song does, a visceral, cathartic death and rebirth that will hopefully help transport the listener through whatever their personal struggles are."
Recorded to tape rather than digitally during COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, and prior to the band canceling 2021 tour dates when singer Jonathan Davis actually contracted the virus, Requiem features experimental soundscapes and time consuming, highly-focused production, which avid fans will surely notice and appreciate.
The new release will be made available in multiple formats, including CD, cassette, separate red and silver vinyl versions, and more. Pre-orders are available now, as well as a full line of Requiem merchandise like socks, masks, tee shirts, hoodies, stress balls, and a whole lot more.
