What were the most-played songs of the past year? Glad you asked! We scoured the data and were able to find out the top 10 most-played songs on Audacy Rock stations across the country in 2021. Check out the full list below.
10.Halestorm - Back From The Dead
The song is a jolt of caffeine straight into your blood system. The track opens with Lzzy Hale belting out "I'M BACK FROM THE DEEEEEEEAAAAAD!" Of course, the song serves in almost a literal sense as it marked the first single off Halestorm's first album since 2018.
9.Chevelle - Self destructor
Fans waited five years to hear a new album of original music from Chevelle and it was worth the wait. The band released their ninth studio album NIRATIAS this past March as "Self destructor" has been played on repeat ever since.
8.All Good Things (Featuring Hollywood Undead) - For The Glory
For a band that wants to take rock and stretch to its epic limits, "For The Glory" shows exactly what that sounds like. With a bombastic, pulsating bass groove, "For The Glory" certainly lives up to All Good Things' ambitions of creating anthemic rock.
7.Zero 9:36 - Adrenaline
"Adrenaline" perfectly showcases the genre-bending sounds Zero 9:36 frequently incorporates into his music as it seamlessly shifts between Hip Hop and Hard Rock while maintaining tinges of Electronica.
6.Five Finger Death Punch - Darkness Settles In
Five Finger Death Punch proves that patience is a virtue as the slow, melodic buildup of "Darkness Settles In" takes awhile to reach its climax. Once it does, get ready, it's an anvil of rock that drops straight on your head. Catch "Darkness Settles In" in the horror film The Retaliators.
5.The Pretty Reckless (Featuring Matt Cameron & Kim Thayil) - Only Love Can Save Me Now
Talk about an all star collaboration. The Pretty Reckless welcome aboard Soundgarden members Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil for this epic track that gives a modern take on that classic grunge sound.
4.Ayron Jones - Mercy
The music video looks like it's something out of a horror movie as Jones finds himself running through the forest before winding up in an isolated church where a priest grabs a hold of him in an attempt to save his soul. The song is a headbanger and showcases Jones' immense musical talents. Catchy riffs, blistering guitar solo, and powerful lyrics are all present in "Mercy." Pro tip, listen to this song loud.
3.Volbeat - Wait A Minute My Girl
At just over two minutes long, Volbeat wastes no time getting your ears hooked. Bringing in their classic fusion of Rock sounds, "Wait A Minute My Girl" is the anthem you need on your playlist. Plus, it has a sax solo, which is all we can ever really ask out of a song.
2.Foo Fighters - Making A Fire
That's how you start off an album. The opening track from Foo Fighters' 10th studio record also kicks off our playlist as this rollicking groover is one of those songs you can't help listening to over-and-over again.
1.Foo Fighters - Waiting On A War
And the most played song on Audacy Rock stations in 2021 is… "Waiting On A War" by Foo Fighters. The song is deeply personal and was inspired by the time Dave Grohl's daughter asked him if there is going to be a war while he was driving her to school. "Everyday waiting for the sky to fall. Is there more to this than that? Is there more to this than just waiting on a war? Because I need more. We all do," he said in an interview. Musically, the song begins softly with Grohl singing over acoustic guitar as it builds and builds to a grand crescendo with the rest of the band kicking in.
