"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the statement shares. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
The Black Sabbath frontman recently took to the stage for one final time, with his legendary metal band as well as for a solo set. The 'Back To The Beginning' show on July 5 raised $190 million, making it the highest grossing charity concert of all time.
Formed in Birmingham in 1968, Black Sabbath included guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and Ozzy Osbourne on vocals. Their mark on music history was cemented with their first three albums, Black Sabbath and Paranoid, both released in 1970, and Master of Reality in 1971. These LPs are widely thought of as the foundational pillars of heavy metal music.
Ozzy was fired from Black Sabbath initially in 1979, but quickly returned in 1980 with his solo debut, Blizzard of Oz.
Osbourne was twice inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, first with Black Sabbath in 2006, and again as a solo artist in 2024.
